A couple of years ago this blog started out as a place where I could share my daily life, photo’s, and all that with family and friends. As more and more people signed up for Facebook I started finding that need fulfilled by it instead, using my blog once in a great while to share only longer stories.
Over the past couple of years though I’ve had another need for this blog begin to emerge. My husband and I have started hiking more and more, eventually deciding we would begin a mission to hike all 825 miles of Blue Trails in the state of Connecticut. As we hiked and took pictures I found several of my Facebook friends were very interested in the photo’s we take when hiking. However, after a couple hundred miles of trails and hiking at least once a week and occasionally 2 or 3 times a week I began to feel as if my hiking photo’s were taking over my Facebook page. I also felt as though I couldn’t share the full story of my hike with my Facebook friends via the photo albums there so I began blogging about my hikes.
As I blogged about the hikes I began to realize that this could also be used as a way to keep track of the trails I’ve done in such a way that is easy to share with others, which is how my CT Blue Trails page came to be. This allows me to easily keep track of what trails I’ve hiked, quickly find photo’s about my hikes & also gives visitors a chance to see the trails that are available to them and see pictures of the hikes to see what they have to look forward to.
I will not be posting directions to any of the trail-heads or maps of the trails, however. That is not my goal. For detailed hike descriptions, directions to trail-heads and topographical maps of all the trails please visit: http://www.ctwoodlands.org/node/17. Your purchase of the CT Walk Books not only gives you trail descriptions and maps you can carry with you on your hikes but also helps support the CT Forest & Park Association and helps keep our Blue Trails maintained and available. (BTW, I am not associated with the organization just a supporter and trail-lover.)
I, obviously, am a hiker. I’m also recently into backpacking and have been car-camping since I was a kid. My current goal aside from completing the CT 825 with my husband is planning and training for a solo thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, hopefully in 2012. When I’m not outdoors enjoying the trails you will usually find me at home playing computer games, baking, cooking, playing my flute, piano, or, a lot of times, planning the next hike, backpacking trip or messing around with photo’s from the last one.
Happy Trails,
-Molasses
